STUDENT COUNCIL AND CLASS OFFICERS

  1. Student Council & Class Officers
  2. Purpose/Objective - To encourage and develop student leadership, cooperation, and networking
  3. Description
    • A brief overview of what the club/activity entails. What do members typically do? What are the main activities or events?   Each class is tasked with planning and facilitating their senior prom.  They are also responsible for fundraising for the prom and other senior activities.  In addition, the student council as a whole, organizes the pep rallies, schedules spirit days, and tries to raise school spirit within the building. Students create and market events to the student body based on collaboration and teamwork.  They are able to partner with other students outside of their friends circle.  This year, we were able to do an exchange day with Brookside HS in which our students were able to meet and connect with students from another district, allowing them to network beyond our walls.  Students also planned and organized our first Winter Ball, which was held in January.  Students also run the indoor concession stand.
  4. Meeting Times & Location for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year - Student Body Officers meet once a month in the guidance conference room.  Next meeting is March 5.  Class Officers meet as needed.  Entire Student Council will have an end of the year potluck on April 12.
  5. Membership Requirements - students are elected to their positions - Each class has a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and public relations/social media manager, plus one at-large representative per 15 students in the grade.  Student Body offices are  president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and public relations/social media manager.
  6. Benefits of Joining
    • Highlight the benefits of joining. What will students gain from participating? Skills Development? Networking? Social connections? - Students learn leadership, organization, networking, and cooperation skills.  Students help to create and develop a positive community atmosphere within the building.  They may make new friends, and learn new skills.
  7. Past Achievements or Highlights
    • Awards, projects completed, memorable events - Winter Ball; Student Exchange with Brookside High School
  8. Advisor Contact Information - Suzie Neff [email protected]; Lori Krug [email protected]; Brandon Campbell [email protected]; Jason Geanuracos [email protected]
  9. How to get involved
    • Explain how interested students can get involved. Informational meetings, signing up online, or contacting an advisor directly - Student Body Officers will be elected in May for next school year.  In early September, there will be a meeting for anyone interested in running for Class Officers.  Students need to complete a Google form application, and also make a speech in front of their peers.  Elections immediately follow speeches.
