Columbia Endowment Scholarship

The Columbia Endowment Fund is sponsoring three $1,000.00 scholarships for members of the Columbia High School Class of 2025.  
 
Please complete the Scholarship Application and upload it here no later than 2:00 p.m. on FRIDAY, April 4, 2025.

Miss Neff & Mrs. Hechko will complete Counselor and GPA information AFTER applications are uploaded.

Local Scholarships

The following local scholarships are available.  Please check back, as more will be posted as we receive them.  Miss Neff & Mrs. Hechko will complete any counselor requested information AFTER scholarships are submitted.  You must be logged into your CLSD Google account to access the applications in Google forms.

Columbia Athletic Boosters

  • The Columbia Athletic Boosters will be awarding two $1000 scholarships this year, one to a female and one to a male

  • You are eligible if you: are a high school senior who has participated in at least one high school sport for a minimum of two seasons

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; have been accepted to an institution of higher learning

  • Are the child of a member of CAB, dues paid by March 1st of this school year

  • Application is due March 7, 2025. 

Columbia Eagles

The Columbia Station Fraternal Order of Eagles 4003 is a non-profit, community organization, dedicated to serve the needs of the Columbia Station community.  

  • They are offering two $1000 scholarships from the Aerie and two $1000 scholarships from the Ladies' Auxiliary, open to any Columbia High School graduating senior attending a college, trade school, or other post-high school education  

  • This is a two-part application process.  You will need to download this word-fillable application (you can type right on the form), complete it, save it, and then upload it here.  

  • If you have questions, please see Miss Neff, and she will help you. 

  • Application is due March 7, 2025

Columbia Firemen's Association

The Columbia Firemen's Association is offering a $500 scholarship to a senior pursuing a career in public service or the medical field.

Columbia VFW

The Columbia Station VFW and the Ladies' Auxiliary are offering one $5000, one $2500, and one $1500, and one $500 scholarships.

Columbia PTO

The Columbia Parent Teacher Organization supports the students and staff of the Columbia Local School District.  

  • They are offering four $500 scholarships.  

  • Students must have attended Columbia Local Schools for the last three semesters, and be a graduating senior.  

  • The application can be found here.  

  • Application is due March 21, 2025.

Columbia Local Education Association

The Columbia Local Education Association represents all licensed school staff - teachers, counselors, and speech pathologists.  

  • They are offering three $1000 scholarships: 

  • One to a student who has attended Copopa Elementary, Columbia Middle School, and Columbia High School

  • Two to students majoring in education or participating in teacher education programs.  

  • Students must be attending a four-year college or university.  

  • The application can be found here

  • Application is due by March 21, 2025.

The Columbia Community Foundation

The Columbia Community Foundation consists of a Board of Directors representing a cross-section of the Columbia Community.  Their mission is to serve the citizens of Columbia Station, Ohio, and neighboring communities through the implementation of their charitable aspirations by awarding educational scholarships and community grants.  

  • The CCF is offering several scholarships, and their application can be found here.  

  • Please note applicants will be emailed a copy of their answers, and if an email is not received, their application was not submitted correctly. 

  • Application is due by March 28, 2025.

This scholarship was created to assist students who have maintained a good scholastic record and have financial need who want to continue their post-secondary education. "This is not a program to aid those with neither the highest scholastic record, nor those from families of average income or better. We desire to help the sons and daughters of families that have had more than their share of life's adversities" - The Ratner, Miller, Shafran Foundation
ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
  1. Must be a high school graduate from Northeast Ohio with financial need.
  2. Intend to enroll as a full-time student at a public or private not-for-profit postsecondary institution in the fall of 2025.
  3. Preference will be given to students majoring in: Engineering, Physical Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), Biological Science (Botany, Zoology), Medicine (including Pre-Med and Nursing), Health Careers (Physical and Occupational Therapy), Religion, Teaching, and/or Social Work.
  4. Maintain a 2.0 GPA during your time in high school or college.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To apply for this scholarship, you will need: 
    1. Most recent transcript
    2. 2025/2026 FAFSA Submission Summary
    3. One letter of recommendation
    4. Essay (maximum 250 words) about an obstacle you overcame (or didn't), and what you learned from that experience.

THE ORRIN R. FINDLEY/WILLIAM AND BETTY LUTE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Lorain County Retired Teachers Association (LORCORTA)
GUIDELINES
1. Two or more scholarship grants in the amounts of $1,000 - $1,500 each will be awarded in May of any
given year for the applicant’s first college year.
2. To qualify, the applicant must be a Lorain County resident who is the child, grandchild, niece or
nephew of a current or retired Lorain County Educator certified and serving or having served in a
professional capacity. There are no stipulations as to the field.
3. The criteria used to select the scholarship recipients will include academic record and class rank,
ACT and/or SAT test scores, extra-curricular activities and out-of-school activities, two teacher
recommendations and a personal essay.
4. The completed application package, SIGNED by a parent or guardian, and including the two
completed teacher recommendations must be submitted by APRIL 1. This application packet
must be received by the school counselor by this date.
5. All application materials will be transmitted by school personnel to the Scholarship Committee As
Soon As Possible. No scholarship applications received after APRIL 1 will be considered.

OAPSE/AFSCME Scholarship

IAN MINNICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Ian Minnick Memorial Scholarship is awarded each spring to a graduating senior in the amount of $1,000 per year for up to four years. Application is made in part through a visual or audio submission along with an interview for finalists with the Ian's Legacy Scholarship Committee.

Applicants should be pursuing post-secondary education in music, digital media production, fashion, voice, dance, drama, photography or any other art form not mentioned. Attendance may be at a technical school, dance or art academy or a two or four year college or university. 

The chosen candidate will have demonstrated creativity, focus, authenticity, confidence and commitment to their art.  More information can be found here.
