About Mrs. Dunn

Hi! My name is Susie Dunn and I am the K-4 school counselor at Copopa Elementary School. I have been married to Chuck for 39 years and have three children; Michael, age 36, Nikki, age 32, and Lexie, age 28. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College, and a Master’s degree in education and school counseling from Cleveland State University. I completed an internship at Copopa and Columbia High School. Before returning to college, I was a substitute teacher in the Columbia Local School District. I love working with children of all ages, and have wanted to be a counselor for many years. It is the fulfillment of a dream to be here and help parents and children with the difficulties and issues that sometimes arise in elementary school.

In my spare time, I love to read, I love the beach and the ocean where I like to collect seashells, and I am a bird watcher. I have seen many different kinds of birds in and around Lorain County, and have seen really unusual species during my trips to Florida, North Carolina, and West Virginia. I love to travel, swim, and walk my dogs, Willie and Waylon. I really enjoy watching football, our own Columbia Raiders on Friday nights and on television, as well as watching movies with my family. I like to have fun!

I have traveled to the beaches of Cape Cod, Massachusetts where I saw humpback whales feeding in the Atlantic Ocean and to the Bahamas where I swam with stingrays and sea turtles! Last year I visited the New River in West Virginia to do some white water rafting, which was exciting, scary, and very fun!  When I visited Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan, I climbed a sand dune! Whew, that was hard.

I am very excited to be working at the elementary school this year.  My office is inside the main office at Copopa, right next door to Ms. Molnar's office.  Stop in and see me anytime, or leave a note in my mailbox if I am out of the office. I can’t wait to see all of you!
