READ  Comfort the Bear - A Coronavirus Support Story 

ACTIVITY TWO

WATCH the video "Emotions, StoryBots"  

THINK Which emotion are you feeling right now?  What can you do when you are feeling grumpy? What can you do when you are feeling sad?       

DO Make a list of all of the things that make you happy. 

ACTIVITY THREE

WATCH "Inside Out: Guessing the Feeling" 

THINK  How does a person’s face change based on their emotion? How does a person’s body change based on their emotion? Which of these emotions are you feeling the most right now?

ACTIVITY Fold a piece of paper in half 2 times. Write one of the following emotions in each square: happy, sad, worried, angry. Draw a picture of yourself showing each emotion. 

ACTIVITY FOUR  

LISTEN Wilma Jean the Worry Machine by Julia Cook

THINK  What are some of the worries Wilma Jean has? Can you relate to her worries? What happens to Wilma Jean when she worries? What did Wilma Jean’s teacher do to help Wilma Jean with her worrying? Why is sorting our worries (like Wilma Jean’s teacher did) helpful? 

ACTIVITY Write/Draw something you worry about. Why do you worry about it? Can you control it? What can you do to feel better about your worries? 

ACTIVITY FIVE 

WATCH "Calm Breathing"

THINK What are some things that make you feel nervous or worried? What clever ways did you learn to balance the nervous feelings with calm feelings? 

ACTIVITY Set a timer for 4 minutes. Think of ALL the things you feel worried about. Now practice the finger breathing exercise you learned in the video. How do you feel?

ACTIVITY ONE 

WATCH "We All Have Mental Health"

THINK: What are the differences between everyday feelings and overwhelming feelings? What are some self-care strategies that we can use to deal with everyday feelings, what does Sasha do? does it work? How are the feelings that André is experiencing different? What does André do to manage these feelings? What can you do if you are worried about a friend?

ACTIVITY TWO 

WATCH "Know Your Emotions"

THINK: What emotion or emotions are you feeling right now? How can you measure your emotions? Do emotions change or stay the same? “There are no good or bad emotions.” Do you agree or disagree? Why? Activity: Draw your own emotion intensity chart and measure your emotions throughout the day. 
 
ACTIVITY THREE 

WATCH: "Kindness and Compassion" 

THINK: How did the exercises make you feel? Was it harder to send caring wishes to some people more than others? Did it become easier or harder the more you practiced? How come it’s important to be kind to everyone, including those who sometimes frustrate us? What are other caring wishes you can send to people in your life? 

ACTIVITY FOUR 

WATCH: Kid President and Gratitude Kid 

ACTIVITY: President starts by saying that, “some days are hard.” Why do you think making a list of things to be thankful for might help us on hard days? Make your own list of things to be grateful for, and share a picture, or your list, or just a few things on a piece of paper, and share them to the padlet on the specials choice board! I will post a picture, too! 

ACTIVITY FIVE 

LISTEN: The Invisible String by Patrice Karst, read by Mrs. Dunn!

WRITE: Remember, even though we are apart right now, we are all connected! I am only a phone call or an email away, if you need me, if you want to talk, if you need anything at all, you can reach me at [email protected] I will write back the same day!! If it is really important, I can call you, too. I love you all, and I miss you, we will get through this together!
