I would like to officially welcome our new CMS Principal, Mr. Robert Magyar. Bob comes to us with three years of administrative experience and nine years teaching at the middle school level. He will be a great fit for our students and staff at CMS. For those of you that didn't know, Mr. Gibson has accepted a job with Amherst Schools. We wish Mr. Gibson the best of luck and thank him for his service to CMS.

Beginning in the 2017-18 school year, CLSD will offer before/after school care for students in grades K-6. This will be at no cost to the district. Parents will assume costs if they choose to use this service. More information will be provided to parents in the coming weeks. I would like to thank all of you that completed the survey. This is yet another great service to offer in our schools.

CLSD is proud to present “Operation Street Smart.” It will be held on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30 pm at Columbia High School in the gymnasium. All of Lorain County is invited to attend. We anticipate a large crowd for this event. This is a nationally recognized adult program, no children or students please, presented by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. This program is designed to educate parents, teachers, social workers, community partners, and anyone with a nexus to children about current drug trends, terminology, and paraphernalia. Our goal is to arm attendees with the information necessary to recognize the influences of the drug culture on their children, familiarize them with the many different drugs our children face, and share with them the experiences and knowledge of undercover narcotics officers so they are better prepared to help their children make the right choices. Hope to see you in attendance!
