Rural Urban Record - April 23, 2018
Thank you to everyone that attended the “State of the Community” this past Wednesday.  There are a lot of great things going on in the schools and the community.  If you were unable to attend, the presentation can be found by going to our website at www.columbia.k12.oh.us  I am very proud of the progress we are making in CLSD!  I also proud of the great community that we have in Columbia Station!  Thank you for your continued support!

Wednesday, April 25th is Administrative Professionals Day.  I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our administrative assistants for their dedication to our students, staff and schools:  Carla Lasecki, Amy Thomas, Elizabeth Aniol, Liz Wenzel, Pat Cieslak, Tammy Olah, Beth Kobe, Kathy Hechko, Julie Bowes and Michelle Jones.  You are the hardest working group of people in our schools.  Thanks for all that you do!

On Tuesday, May 8th CLSD will have two renewal levies on the ballot, Issue 2 and Issue 3.  Both of these levies are renewals and WILL NOT increase taxes.  The quality of our schools is critical to the health, economy, reputation and future of our community.  Most importantly, to ensure our students are fully prepared for college, careers and citizenship.  Passage of these levies will allow Columbia Local Schools to maintain a high-quality education, prepare our students for the jobs of the future, protect property values, retain highly qualified and dedicated employees, purchase new textbooks and upgrade educational technology.  Our schools play a vital role in Columbia Township as it is the largest employer in our town.  CLSD continues to be financially well-managed as stated by the Auditor of State, Dave Yost.  Please take the time to cast your vote on May 8th!  We Are Columbia!

We are always looking to improve the quality of the school district and the services we provide.  If you have a suggestion, question or comment please feel free to call me at (440) 236-5008 or email bansekg@columbia.k12.oh.us  Follow me on twitter @graigbansek

Rural Urban Record - March 26, 2018
Our new “Breakfast with a Buddy” program was held at Copopa and CMS last week.  Over 600 buddies got to spend time with our students and were treated to breakfast and a tour of the buildings.  I appreciate all of you that visited our schools and the time you took to be with our students.  Your commitment is appreciated by all of us in CLSD!  This program will become an annual event in our K-8 building.

CHS held its annual Academic Banquet last Wednesday.  121 students were recognized for his or her academic accomplishments.  All of the students in attendance had a 3.5 grade point average or higher.  I want to congratulate the students on a job well done!  I am very proud of your efforts and for being leaders in the building.  I would also like to thank the Academic Boosters for supporting our students.  The work of this committee does not go unnoticed.  Finally, thanks to all of the parents for supporting academic excellence.

Congratulations to Susie Dunn, counselor at Copopa and CMS!  She is the recipient of the February Raider Nation Excellence Award.  Also nominated for the award this month was Ladd Gault.  Thanks to both of you for all that you do for CLSD!
